The Presenter
Richard Beauchamp has been successfully involved in
practically every facet of purebred dogs: breeding, exhibiting,
professional handling, publishing, writing and judging. He has lectured
extensively and is the author of numerous breed and all breed books.
Rick was the first person licensed to judge all breeds for the United
Kennel Club. He now judges all Sporting breeds, several Working breeds
and numerous other breeds throughout the Variety Groups with the AKC.The Seminar
Most dog fanciers agree understanding breed type is
essential to excellence in breeding or judging dogs. However, many do
not fully understand what these two words actually include or how to
apply what is included. This presentation gives both breeder and judge
a method to both recognize and apply
the essentials of breed type.Type is art and learning to appreciate it is not something that can be easily taught. It is possible, however, to provide the information that can lead to its recognition. If anyone is ever to recognize type they must first understand what the components included in the word actually are. Anyone who is willing to invest time and study can enjoy some measure of success by learning to recognize what the components o f breed type include. This seminar is based upon an easy to understand method of recording these characteristics. It has proven extremely helpful not only in learning new breeds but also in developing a better understanding of one's own breed. During the course of this seminar, photographs and diagrams assist the student in learning how to recognize and record these elements of type and how to apply them to one's own breeding program or to employ them in judging the breed. The
companion book upon which this seminar is based will be available for
sale.
