New
venue for our August shows:
River
Valley Community Centre, Grand Bay-Westfield, NB
Thank
you to Grand Bay-Westfield town for welcoming us!
For
years now, our August shows were hosted at the KV Arena in Rothesay NB. Due to ongoing renovation plans for this
arena, we searched for another venue.
The NBKC are most thankful to the town of Rothesay for inviting us to
host our annual event in their community over past years, and many thanks to
the great supporters that came each year to watch the dogs (and hope you will
continue to join us at our new venue.)
2007:
100 years and still growing !!
In
2007, we celebrated our Centennial!
2005:
August
22, 2005 was a noteworthy day in the club’s history marked by
the
hosting of our 400th dog show.
Club History:
The
history of dog showing in the Saint John, New Brunswick area goes back to
before the organization of the Canadian Kennel Club. Breeder/fanciers of the
day held shows in conjunction with the local poultry shows under American
Kennel Club rules. Those humble beginnings in the early 1880’s, marked
the birth of the New Brunswick Kennel Club.
The
New Brunswick Kennel Club was organized on June 27, 1907. It was incorporated on July 3, 1937 making
ours the oldest kennel club in Canada.
The
object of this club is to advance the best interest of purebred dogs; to
encourage and support dog shows; to emphasize the value of purebred dogs; and
to foster and maintain among ourselves a warm friendship and high degree of
sportsmanship.
